Queen Elizabeth National Park, located in southwestern Uganda, is one of the country's most popular and biodiverse national parks. Spanning approximately 1,978 square kilometers, the park is renowned for its stunning landscapes, diverse wildlife, and various ecosystems, including savannas, forests, wetlands, and lakes. The park is named after Queen Elizabeth II and offers a rich array of activities for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers.
Home to over 95 mammal species including elephants, lions (including the unique tree-climbing lions in the Ishasha sector), leopards, buffaloes, and various antelope species. Over 600 bird species make it a bird watcher's paradise. The Kazinga Channel hosts hippos, crocodiles, and various fish species.
Day 1
Arrival and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Morning: Arrive in Entebbe/Kampala and take a domestic flight or drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park (approx. 6-7 hours by road). Afternoon: Check into your lodge and relax. Evening: Evening game drive to get an initial glimpse of the park's wildlife. Overnight: Lodge within the park.
Day 2
Game Drive and Boat Safari
Morning: Early morning game drive in the Kasenyi Plains, known for its lion sightings and other wildlife like elephants and buffaloes. Afternoon: Lunch at the lodge followed by a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. Look out for hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species. Evening: Relax at the lodge. Overnight: Lodge within the park.
Day 3
Chimpanzee Tracking and Nature Walk
Morning: Drive to Kyambura Gorge for chimpanzee tracking. This experience also offers sightings of other primates and bird species. Afternoon: Lunch at the lodge followed by a nature walk in the Maramagambo Forest. Explore the bat caves and spot forest wildlife. Evening: Relax at the lodge. Overnight: Lodge within the park.
Day 4
Cultural Experience and Departure
Morning: Visit a local community for a cultural experience. Learn about traditional practices, crafts, and local life. Afternoon: Lunch and check out from the lodge. Transfer back to Kampala/Entebbe for your departure flight. Evening: Departure.
